1. Overview

Cape & Katana is a solo-operated online comic book store based in South Africa. By placing an order, you agree to these terms in full. These terms exist to be transparent about how we operate - not to create loopholes.

2. Orders & Payment

All payments are processed securely via Payfast. An order is confirmed once payment is successfully authorised and you receive an order confirmation email. Prices are in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT where applicable.

We reserve the right to cancel any order at any time before dispatch if we are unable to fulfil it. In that event, you will be notified promptly and a full refund issued.

3. Stock Availability

Cape & Katana is a solo operation. Stock counts are maintained on a best-effort basis and are not guaranteed to reflect real-time inventory with 100% accuracy. In the vast majority of cases, what you see on the site is what we have - mismatches are rare.

In the uncommon event that an item you ordered is found to be out of stock or unavailable after your order is placed, we will contact you as soon as possible and offer either:

  • A credit applied to your Cape & Katana account, or
  • A full refund to your original payment method, processed as soon as possible.

We will never hold your money for an item we cannot deliver. Your trust matters more than a sale.

4. Supplier Delays & Pre-Orders

Pre-orders are sourced through Lunar Distribution, an external supplier. Release dates and stock availability are outside our direct control. Suppliers occasionally experience delays, shipping shortfalls, or allocation changes that affect our ability to fulfil pre-orders on the original estimated date.

We will communicate any known delays as soon as we are informed. If a pre-ordered item cannot be sourced within a reasonable time, the same options apply: account credit or a full refund.

5. Shipping

We offer door-to-door delivery within South Africa at a flat shipping rate shown at checkout (VAT inclusive). Estimated delivery times are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed — courier delays are outside our control once an order has been dispatched.

Risk of loss passes to you upon handover to the courier. If your order is lost in transit, contact us and we will open a claim with the courier on your behalf.

6. Returns & Refunds

We take care to package orders so comics arrive in the condition described. If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos and we will make it right - either a replacement (subject to availability) or a refund.

We do not accept returns for change of mind on comics that have been removed from their packaging.

7. Privacy

We collect only the information necessary to process your order and provide you with a good experience. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties except where required to fulfil your order (payment processor, courier). For questions about your data, contact us directly.

9. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
